A social marketing campaign that educates students on the dangers of teenage drinking.
The campaign includes a website, videos, and a discussion guide to help students facilitate classroom discussions. The goal of "Buzzcheck" is to encourage students to question common myths and assumptions about teen drinking – including the impact of peer pressure and the social consequences of drinking – and ultimately build skills to resist drinking alcohol.
"Buzzcheck" was presented at the 2010 Community Anti-Drug Coalition of America (CADCA) conference and the 2011 Office of the Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention (OJJDP) conference. We know this campaign will be an exciting way for your chapter to make your voices heard, and educate your friends about underage drinking.
1. Visit the "BuzzCheck" program page on the SADD.org website.
2. Request your "BuzzCheck" kit.
3. Complete the following:
- Launch the "BuzzCheck" website in your school.
- View the DVD of the example "situations."
- Conduct peer-to-peer discussions based on the provided guide.
To Get Your Points:
1. Collect photo/video evidence of all activities being completed.
2. Click "Submit Your Points."
3. Enter the name of the submitter and select the activity completed, the county, and school.
4. Upload all applicable photo and video evidence of the program, as well as a brief description of the activity (including the date of completion and any people pictured in the photo).
**Note -- Points for all award levels will be counted instantaneously, but the Silver Award will not be granted until a participating school has earned the Bronze Award!**
